We wanted to share where the 3BreweryBoys originated. It all began with a shared love of beer. Friends came together to drink and hang out at a local brewery in Pensacola, FL. @PerfectPlain

The possibility of winning free beer at our favorite local brewery, Perfect Plain, started it all. Perfect Plain decided to run a Summer photo contest featuring their merch. The brewery had just built out a new event space and was excited to unveil it. Perfect Plain held a contest titled #perfectplainsummer. The contestants would enter photos to win the first keg party held at the newly built space.

The rules were simple: Send in photos wearing Perfect Plain merch and tag the brewery using the hashtag- #perfectplainsummer. Pensacola is known for its beautiful beaches with white sands. Being 3 fairly average guys, it didn’t appear we’d be able to compete with abs or a beauty contest. We had to come up with another angle.

Several ideas were thrown around, but we kept coming back to trying to rep as much merchandise as possible. Perfect Plain had recently released red fanny packs, metal camping growlers, and hats. The idea was born to wear fanny packs as the primary piece of clothing.

The first attempt to capture the shot involved 4 people near the shore wearing fanny packs, a selfie stick, and a 360 camera. The shot was ok but it didn’t come out with the punch we wanted. With the contest window about to close, we decided to try again with a better camera and lighting. Unfortunately, our 4th was unable to attend the new photo session, making what would become the @3BreweryBoys. Needless to say, the image was successful in accomplishing a victory for #perfectplainsummer. This was not the end of the story.

The idea started as a half-joke to order a few dozen stickers and hand them out to people we knew. As the original image was a photo it didn’t seem logical to use for marketing and scalability. So we looked to the legendary artist, Steve Blair (@steveblairdesigns), who has designed t-shirts and posters for Blue Angels amongst many other things around the country. We asked him to redraw our photo into a vector-based piece of art. The thought of him drawing every thigh hair still makes us giggle.

After handing out a few stickers, we started getting requests for more so we obliged and ordered more. All that was left now was to start putting them up at some of our local breweries. People began to recognize the image and would tag our personal Instagrams. After hearing a few hundred times that the image should just have its own Instagram handle, we got off our lazy butts and started what you see today.

An Instagram account, a Google location map, and an Untapped account later….we are finally ready to share more of our Love for Beer. If you See Us, Tag Us, Share Us. Got stickers of your own? Send them to us! We can post them around our local breweries!

We do ask that if you are going to stick a sticker somewhere make sure it’s a dedicated place for stickers. Many breweries, bars and taprooms have a sticker wall, or a cooler, or something that already has stickers on it. Let’s play nice and keep it where it belongs! We appreciate your support!
